Calling All Crows

Baez Award

Calling All Crows is lucky to have dozens of individuals around the country who are especially dedicated to our mission, jumping at every possible opportunity to participate and support CAC wherever we are. The Baez award is one way that we hope to honor and encourage their commitment to our mission.

2015 Recipient

JPickering IMEC ABW8Jenni Pickering is a long-time Crow Club member, has been a CAC supporter for many years, but this year went above and beyond, joining us for multiple shows and service projects across the Midwest during our winter Forced to Flee tour, engaging hundreds of fans to take action for women’s rights over four days at Bonnaroo, jumping in and lending an extra hand during DISPATCH: HUNGER, and was even this week—helping out here in Boston as we prepared for Annual Benefit Weekend. A musician herself, she plays and teaches the violin and viola in the Quad Cities, near her hometown of Rock Island, Illinois.

We are so excited to honor Jenni’s commitment to Calling All Crows, as the first recipient of the Baez Award.

About the award

Joan Baez once said, "I think music has the power to transform people, and in doing so, it has the power to transform situations - some large and some small." Our volunteers work to transform society and promote women's rights at every turn—concerts, service projects, and in their own communities through local actions and social media.

The Baez Award is an award that Calling All Crows established at the Eighth Annual Benefit Weekend. Named for Joan Baez, an American folk singer, songwriter and activist, this award will be given annually to a CAC volunteer who has shown their dedication to this organization and its mission through music, service and activism.
