Calling All Crows has a unique engagement model, empowering musicians, fans and service partners to serve side-by-side to create change.
Calling All Crows strives to bring women's rights issues to the attention of music fans and to empower its constituency to leverage their voices and power for positive social change. CAC achieves this through concert outreach efforts, pre-show events such as rallies and community conversations, and messaging from the stage and through media outlets.
Calling All Crows, in partnership with Oxfam America, Amnesty International, The College Board and other organizations, has mobilized support for marriage equality, human rights, increased access to quality education in the US, aid for refugees in international conflicts, the abolition of the death penalty, and stronger environmental policy. As of 2014, CAC has circled back to our roots to primarily focus on women's empowerment in the US and abroad.
Our projects bring musicians and their fans together to serve with a local organization and create community-level change before heading to the concert. These pre-show service projects provide a hands-on service experience and connect music fans to non-profit organizations in their own communities.
Since its inception, Calling All Crows has organized over 150 projects in partnership with musicians, local service organizations, and volunteers. Projects have included painting murals, sorting donations for shelters and food banks, preparing meals at shelters, clearing invasive species from parks, beach clean-ups, and more.
Alternative Break Tours
Alternative Break Tours (ABTs) are unique volunteer trips for music fans looking to create change through hands-on service and activism. Designed to give service-minded music fans a taste of life on the road with their favorite band, ABTs are full-immersion, 5-day/4-night experiences that transform both the communities and the lives of our volunteers. Participants(ages 21+) travel together from town-to-town on the Alternative Break Tour bus/van, completing service projects with local non-profit organizations by day and catching their favorite band live on stage each night.
Calling All Crows engages music fans in grassroots fundraising to support partner international non-profits and community organizations, as well as to support its own work providing service and learning opportunities to music fans across the US and in Europe. Calling All Crows has granted hundreds of thousands of dollars to its partners including Oxfam America's women's empowerment programs in Sudan, women's shelters in Afghanistan, Teach for America Denver, and many local non-profit service partners in the US.
CAC hosts large fundraising events annually to support its work, including a Halloween 5K and Annual Benefit Weekend in Boston. Additionally, concert-goers contribute through concert outreach efforts and supporters donate through a monthly giving program, The Crow Club, and annual gifts.
